Kristen Waters Few marketing professionals really know the nitty-gritty about how the products or services they market are created. They know their company sells diamonds, but they’ve never been down in the mines.  Kristen is an exception. From her first day at her first job, she has been an investigator’s investigator. A typical day might find her toting a flashlight through the dank basements of a water company spelunking through rusty file cabinets for clues in a toxic tort case. “I’ve always been a very curious person”, says Kristen. “I don’t give up easily.”

Her roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic and experience as an investigator made Kristen a natural fit at Capsicum. She joined the company in 2006 and trained in forensics, and e-discovery. “I got my hands in everything”, she said, “which was an amazing way to start.” As the company grew and it became clear we needed a marketing leader, Kristen stepped up. Her natural curiosity and tenacity are tremendous assets. “The big challenge today is how to get us out there in social media so that we’re truly adding to the conversation, bringing real value to our customers and prospects.”

Does she miss the investigative part of her original job? “Capsicum is an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ culture. I still get to dig in and use my investigative skills. What we all have in common here is that we are relentless problem solvers: we never quit until we have really figured it out.”

“It makes me a better marketer, too. It helps me understand what our clients really need from us and where Capsicum can make the biggest impact for them.”
