Giving Back in 2018

During the holiday season, every office of Capsicum participates in a variety of activities aimed to give back to the community.
In Philadelphia, the Capsicum team plans and prepares a meal for the patients and families staying at The Gift of Life House as part of their Home Cook Heroes Program. The house provides a safe and welcoming home for patients and families that are awaiting or receiving transplants in Philadelphia area hospitals. The Gift of Life House vision includes providing comfortable and affordable lodging in a warm, friendly atmosphere which includes a private bedroom and facilities for cooking, laundry and recreation for its guests. The goal is to help families re-establish a sense of control and accountability by creating a cooperative and supportive atmosphere.
The Capsicum team in New York City plans and prepares a meal for the patients and families staying at The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge. The house provides a home away from home for patients that are receiving cancer treatments in NY area hospitals. Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting well.
Capsicum members in our Fort Lauderdale office do their part to help support the Ronald McDonald House by providing a home cooked meal to the guests staying at the house around the holidays. Each Ronald McDonald house serves as a home away from home so that families of sick children can be close to their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Sometimes something as small as enjoying a warm meal can provide a sense of normalcy during these stressful times. Ronald McDonald House charities has been in operation since 1974 as a place that families of ill children can call home during often difficult and uncertain times.
Capsicum has been supporting these charities since 2012. We look forward to each office’s participation throughout the month of January.
